gMusicW is a free Windows 8 client for Google Play Music, i.e., it allows you to play the music stored on your Google Play Music account from within the app itself. If you aren’t already aware, Google Play Music is a Google service that allows you to store about 20,000 music tracks online, which you can later play back on logging into your Google Play Music account. This app serves as a fully featured client for Google Play Music, and thereby cuts the need of using your browser for listening to your music.
Upon launching the app, you will be asked to sign in to your Google Play Music account through your Google id.
Update (27-May-2014): This app has become paid now and has been renamed to OutColdPlayer App.
You must have a Google Music Account before you use the app. Once you have signed in, you will be presented with a list of tracks that are available on your Google Play Music account.
The home screen of the app will look like the above window where you can see the control bar at the bottom of the screen. You can select a playlist by right clicking it. After you have right clicked, you can select the Queue options from the bottom of the screen, like Play selected, Shuffle and Play, Add to queue. The Queue menu is opened in the above screenshot.
You can also control the playing music from the bottom control buttons. Clicking on a particular playlist opens it.
Upon right clicking anywhere in the open playlist, you can access the control bar at the top (see the screenshot above to see the control bar at the top in the Playlist view). You can click on a track to play it, or you can rate it by using the stars buttons at the right-most screen corner in front of every track name. From the top control bar, you can view songs sorted by artist, album etc.
You can also pin certain tracks that you like by using the Keep local button at the bottom (third from bottom left of the screen), and the song will appear in the home screen of the app.
gMusicW is available for free from the Windows App Store. If you don’t use Google Play Music, and use SoundCloud for listening to music while you are online, you can check out the Clouder! and the SoundCloud apps for Windows 8.
