Too Good To Go is a free Android app with a mission to reduce food waste. The app works only for some countries like United Kingdom, Switzerland, Spain, Poland, Norway, Netherlands, Italy, Germany, France, Denmark, and Belgium. So if you reside in the following areas then join this mission to reduce food waste. Through this app you can buy quality local food for as low as £2. The food is usually available from local restaurants in the area. This is the left over food which would go to waste. But, instead the restaurants offer it to you for a very low price. You can purchase your surprise food bad through this app and pick it up from the restaurant at the given time.
The only thing you are not sure of is what meal will be available in the surprise food bag. As the restaurants can not not before hand what they will have left over at the end of service. I guess that is why they call it a surprise food bag. Still a great deal for £2.
Let’s look at how to navigate through this app below.
First of all, install this app on your phone from the Google Play Store. Once installed, open this app, and you will see a screen like the one seen in the screenshot below.
Sign in to the app using your Facebook account or using your email address. Provide your name and a password. Press the continue button, and you will be asked to select the country of your residence.
You only have a few choices you can choose from. The list of countries this app is available in is given below in the screenshot.
Once you select the country and move forward, you will be shown a welcome message on your screen, just like the one shown in the screenshot below.
Press the continue button and you will see a screen like the one shown in the screenshot below. To find out what all options you have available near you, you will be asked to select your location, or you can turn on the auto detect location button. Choose the option you like.
If you go with choose a location, then you will be shown a map like the one shown in the screenshot below. On this map there are multiple locations listed. You can choose a location from the map.
Once you have chosen a location where you stay, the app will start looking for places near you. After searching, the app shows you restaurants, bakeries, and supermarkets which are offering food at a reduced price. The food being offered is divided in to categories like collect tomorrow, collect for dinner, collect for lunch, bakeries, and your favorites. This can also be seen in the screenshot below.
You can choose the meal time that you are looking for and then browse inside that category. For example, you can choose the dinner category and then see all the available restaurants in this category. When you click on a restaurant name that you like, a full page description of the restaurant will open up explaining the kind of food they serve. Along with the description you can also see the address of the restaurant, what kind of ingredients they use, how many meals do they have left over, and the reduced price of the meal being offered, etc. This can be seen in the screenshot below.
The time you can pick up your surprise food bag is also given at the bottom of the page. If you like the restaurant, then you can click the buy option given at the bottom of the page. This will take you to the checkout page, which can be seen below.
On this page you can select the number of surprise bags you want. It will show you the total amount. Then you can go ahead and buy the food bag by choosing a payment option.
You will also see a more option at the bottom of the page. When you click this more option, a screen like the one shown above will open up. You can see your profile from this page, add a payment method through this page, view your receipts through this page, etc.
Another option you will find at the bottom of the app page is list option. Click this option and it will list all the restaurants in the area you live in. Jut like shown in the above screenshot. The restaurants will list if they have any meals available or not. No meals available will be marked with a red dot on the restaurant name, whereas available meals will be marked with a green dot.
