This tutorial explains how to convert WhatsApp voice messages into text. WhatsApp doesn’t provide any direct option to convert voice notes into text. There are hundreds of WhatsApp tricks available, however, none of them can help you do that. But, what if you want to do that and read Whatsapp voice messages as text? Well, there is actually a simple method that can be used to easily convert the WhatsApp voice notes into text. You can do that by using a free Android app called “Audio to Text for WhatsApp“.
This app allows you to select a voice note on WhatsApp and instantly get the text version of the message. It supports various audio languages for WhatsApp voice messages like English, French, German, Spanish, etc. which it can convert to text. That means if a voice note is in any of the supported languages, then this app can convert it to text.
Note: In addition to Android, “Audio to Text for WhatsApp” app is also available for iPhone. I have only tested the Android version while writing this post.
How to Convert WhatsApp Voice Messages into Text:
Step 1: To get started, simply install the “Audio to Text for WhatsApp” app on your phone. After that, open it up and then select the audio language for the voice notes which you convert into text. Currently, it supports English, French, Portuguese, Dutch, Spanish, German, Arabic, Russian, and Italian.
Step 2: Once you’re done selecting the audio language, simply open WhatsApp and go to the chat thread on which you have received the voice message. Now, to convert the voice message, you would need to long press on it to select the message bubble. When you do that, tap on the “Share” icon at the top of the chat screen.
Step 3: After you select the “Share” icon, the popup dialog will appear where you can choose how you want to share the selected item. On the popup dialog, you would need to select the “Audio to Text for WhatsApp” app, as shown below.
Step 4: As soon as you do that, the app will start processing the voice message and convert it into text. You can see the message text in a popup dialog which overlays on WhatsApp. The accuracy of this app for detecting the message from voice is very impressive. If the voice is clear and in the selected audio language, then it does a pretty good job at Whatsapp voice to text conversion.
