In this tutorial, you will learn about a method to give voice commands to GitHub, Jira, Outlook Calendar, Google Analytics, etc. There is actually a free AI based voice assistant service called, “Katella” that can help you do that. It allows you to perform various actions on the supported enterprise applications just by using your voice. That means you can give voice commands to these applications for the actions. It uses Google Assistant (or even Google Home device) to execute the voice commands.

After that, the dashboard will open up and you would need to authorize the selected applications. To do that, simply select any of the applications under the “Authorized Apps” section and then click on the “Authorize” button. Then you can connect your account for that particular app to make it usable via Katella voice commands.
Once you’re done with authorizing all the selected enterprise applications, you can go ahead and choose “Google Assistant” as the messaging client. To do that, the first thing you need to do is open Google Assistant on your Android phone and say “talk to Katella AI”. As soon as you do that, it will provide you with a link to connect Katella AI with Google. If you’re using a Google Home device, then the link will be sent to you via email.
After you’re done linking Katella AI with Google, you can start using Google Assistant to give voice commands to all the connected enterprise applications. Now, as an example, let me show you how this voice assistant works with “GitHub”.
To get started, simply open Google Assistant by saying Hey Google or Ok Google and say “talk to Katella AI”. When you do that, it will get connected to Katella and you can start giving different voice commands for GitHub. Some of the Katella voice commands for GitHub are as follows:
- show my repos
- get github leaderboard
- show old github prs
- get all commits by username in the last 7 days
- prs that mention me
- get user’s pull request for repo ABC

So, this is how you can give voice commands to the other connected applications as well. Apart from Google Assistant, you can also use Slack, Hangouts Chat, and Microsoft Teams to give text commands instead of voice commands to the connected applications.
