Tools for Educators is a nice website with a good collection of printable picture crossword puzzles. It is more of create your own picture crossword. You have a list of words shown on the home page of this website, you will see a screen like the one shown in the screenshot above. So if you want to create a puzzle with picture clues instead of text clues, then select a word out of this list. It will open up a puzzle creation screen like the one seen in the screenshot below. On this page, you can choose All the picture crossword puzzles are listed on this page. You can click on any word link to open up that puzzle. This can be seen in the screenshot below.
In the first columns select the images of animals that you want in your puzzle. Then enter a text hint, which is optional, you can leave it blank as well. In the third column boxes enter the answers. Then you have the option of choosing a font type, which is Arial by default. Then click on the get crossword button at the bottom, which will generate your picture crossword puzzle.
This new generated picture crossword puzzle can be seen in the screenshot above. You can see that the text clues at the bottom have been replaced with pictures. You have to fill in the name of the animal you see in the picture and the number you see it at.
Great Grub Club
Great Grub Club has a interactive crossword puzzle. The puzzle requires flash to run. Once it is loaded you will see it as shown in the screenshot above. The website only has one crossword picture puzzle. But as it is quite fun to play, so I included it in the list. In this puzzle you will have pictures given all around the crossword grid. Each picture is accompanied with a number. You have to fill in the name of the picture in the number provided. There is a arrow which keeps on pointing to the picture name from 1 and follows through in sequence. There is a helper button at the bottom which says “show me the word”, just in case you are stuck and can’t find the answer.
Clever Learner
Clever Learner has a section of picture crossword puzzles available. When you open the provided link, you will see a page where all the word picture puzzles are listed. They might not all be crossword puzzles though. But the page has some good picture crossword puzzles that you can print. As soon as you click on a crossword image, it will open up in full page in PDF format, as can be seen in the screenshot below.
The page opens up in PDF format and you can see the picture clues given at the top of the page and the crossword grid given below. You can download this PDF page to your computer using the download icon given at the top right side of the page. Once downloaded, you can easily print the page. There are two images of the same puzzle given side by side. One is with answers given at the bottom of the crossword grid and the other one is without answers.
dltk-Kids
dltk-kids has a nice collection of printable picture crossword puzzles. When you open the given link, it will take you to a page where all the picture crossword puzzles are listed. This can also be seen in the screenshot above. The four categories the puzzles are put under are animals, holidays, seasons, and other themes. You can click on any link to open up the puzzle page. When you reach the puzzle page, scroll towards the bottom of the page. There you will find options to print the picture crossword in color or black and white, with answer key or without answer key.
The crossword chosen will open up in the page like the image shown in the screenshot above. At the top of the page you will see the print page option. You can also right click on the image to save it to your computer and print it later.
Jump Start
Jump Start has only one picture crossword puzzle, but I included it as it was a nice one. The process is very simple, go to the link provided and you will get a page like the one shown in the screenshot above. On this page, click the get it now button and the crossword puzzle will open up as shown in the screenshot below.
On this page, you will notice two options at the top of the page, these are download as PDF and print. In case you have a printer connected to your system, then you can use the print option to print this puzzle sheet. Otherwise, you can download the puzzle as PDF on your computer and print it later.
Busy Teacher
Busy Teacher also has a good collection of picture crossword puzzles which can be printed. When you open the link given, you will come across a animal crossword puzzle. Towards the right side of the page you will see a option to find similar worksheet and a link to download the current puzzle sheet.

A small image of the puzzle is shown on the left side and a description can be read on the left side. The print worksheet button can be use to download the worksheet.
When you click the button, the worksheet will open up in another tab, in PDF format. The worksheet can be seen in the screenshot above. All you have to do now is click the download icon given on the top right side, to download the worksheet to your computer in PDF format. One thing to keep in mind is that this website requires you to sign in by creating a account, before you can download anything.
