PBS World Explorers is a section of the PBS learning website dedicated to learning more about the lives and journey’s of worlds greatest explorers. There are 16 video tutorials in this collection which includes some great explorers like Marco Polo, Amerigo Vespucci, Christopher Columbus, Neil Armstrong, etc. These video tutorials can be downloaded or shared with your friends easily. These video tutorials are made for students of grade four to grade eight.
On the home page of this section you will see all the 16 video tutorials listed. Each tutorial shows the name of the explorer it is about and a small description.
Once you click on a explorer name, it will open in a full page view. Here you will be able to watch a video about this particular explorer, which will let you know more about this explorer’s life.
The above screenshot shows a video tutorial on Neil Armstrong. The six minute video gave a good insight about the first man to walk on the moon. On the left of this video there is a info section, which shows:
- What grades students this video is intended for.
- Whether you can stream, download, share and modify the video.
- The number of views of the video.
- And number of times this video was Favorited.
There is also a rating option, using which you can give a star rating to the video tutorial which you just watched. But for using this feature you need to sign up and create a account with the website.
The sharing option lets you share a particular video tutorial via Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, email or Classroom by Google.
When you sign up for an account with the website, you get the option of adding these tutorial to your favorites section, create folders, view your profile, etc.
