Private Photo Vault is a free iPhone app for making your photos password protected. As the name of the app suggests you can keep your private photos safe in a password protected vault. Now this app will allow you to either select photos from your photo gallery, sync album from itunes or click a picture using your camera. All these three options can be used to add photos to this app. Once that is done you can be sure that your photos are safe and no one else will be able to see them. Its a pretty basic app, with easy to understand interface.
There is nothing complicated about the app. Once you download it and open it up for the first time, you will see a screen like the one shown in the screenshot below.
Now after the above screen, the next screen will ask you to select a password or pin to lock up this vault or app. Select any pin that you can remember easily as that will be the only way to access your photos. Once you are done selecting a pin, the app will ask you to setup a backup email address. Just in case you forgot your passcode or pin number, then the backup email can be used. Otherwise you will be locked out of the app, without being able to access your photos. This backup email option though is optional. So it depends if you want to set a backup email or not.
After this you will get import option to select photos that you want to lock up. Again the source of these photos could be photo gallery, itunes album or camera click. If you are importing photos from your phones photo gallery, then make sure that you delete the original photo from the gallery after locking the photo up. So you can be sure that no one else can access it.
The albums option at the bottom left of the screen shows you all the current albums you have in the app at the moment. It also allows you to add a new folder to the app. While adding a new folder you get a option to password protect individual folders as well. So it is double security as the app is password protected and then you can password protect individual folders as well. The only drawback is that you can only create 2 folders with this free version of the app. For creating more folders you will have to upgrade to the paid version.
Once you are inside an album you will get options to edit the photos. The options provided are select all, import, export, move or delete. All these options are pretty self explanatory.
The settings of the app allow you to change the privacy settings like change the pin or passcode, set the resolution for imported photos, etc.
Once you try this app out you will understand why I said it is pretty basic. Even with being very simple, the app does what it is made for well. The free version is ad supported as most of the free apps are. In case you are looking for a app to lock up some personal photos, then do give this one a try. It very easy to use.
