Color Thief is a free Windows 10 app to create color palette from an image. The app creates a color palette out of any image you upload in it. The colors are taken from the image and a cool color palette is created. A color palette as we all know is a combination of colors that work well together. There are lots of tools which let you create a color palette. The unique thing in this app is that the color palette is created using the colors of an image.
To create color palette the app can be downloaded from the Windows 10 store or from the link given at the end of this article. The first time you start this app you will see an interface as given in the screenshot below.
UPDATE: This app has been deleted from the Windows 10 app store and is no longer available to be downloaded.
As you can see there are two ways you can input an image in this app. Firstly, you can click in the box and browse for the image from your device. Otherwise you can copy paste a image URL from the web in the box given at the bottom.
As soon as you upload/select a image, a color palette will be created and displayed on your screen. This can be seen in the screenshot given below.
Now to know the RGB or hex value of these colors in the color palette all you need to do is click on a particular color and its RGB and hex value will be displayed in a pop up box. This can be seen in the screenshot below.
You can copy this RGB or hex value and use them in your projects or anywhere you like.
