Transfer.zip is a web application that enables you to transfer files between two devices (peers) using WebRTC peer-to-peer data transfer. The data streamed using this service is transferred in real time and end-to-end encrypted. No file data, be it plain text or encrypted, is stored anywhere during this process, not even on the Transfer.zip servers.
The encryption protocol used is AES-GCM with a client side 256 bit generated key. You will not be able to decrypt a file without its key, even if you somehow manage to capture the traffic or impersonate a peer. Additionally, there are no restrictions on bandwidth or file size since the data is transferred directly between the peers.
Working:
1. Click on this link to navigate to Transfer.zip. You are not required to register or sign for a free account to use this product.
2. Click on ‘Choose File, upload the file that you wish to transfer and click on the ‘Send’ button. Observe the message on the screen that says ‘Waiting for peer’.
3. A QR code will appear on the screen. You must scan this QR Code from the target device to get the link (URL) & encryption key and download the file. Alternatively, you can also click on ‘Share by link’ to copy the link to the clipboard and send it across to whomever you wish to send the file.
4. Once the file is downloaded, the real time session gets disconnected and no one else will be able to download the file with the said link.
