HISTORY is the official History Channel app for Windows 8 and 8.1 devices which allows you to watch content from the History channel on your Windows 8 or 8.1 device. The app has a clean interface which allows you to easily watch your favorite History channel shows on your device. Some of the content is locked, and can be unlocked by simply entering your Cable service provider’s details. For example, if your provider is Comcast, simply enter the username and password that Comcast has given you, and the locked content will be unlocked. The app has a ton of free content as well, so you don’t necessarily need to pay to watch the videos.
HISTORY is available for free from the Windows App Store.
Main features of HISTORY for Windows 8 and 8.1…
When you install and launch the app, you will be brought straight to the main screen of the app where you will be able to see all the shows that are available in the app. The main screen of the app has show tiles which you can see in the below screenshot.
In the above screen, you will be able to access the content associated with each of the shows by merely clicking on the tiles of the shows. In the below screenshot, you can see the content that shows up when I click on Counting Cars tile. As you can see below, you will be able to see all the episodes and related clips to the show below.
In the above interface, you can see the video clips that are available. You can see that some of these clips have a key mark next to them. These can be unlocked by entering your credentials provided by your cable service provider. When you click on any of the video clips, you will be brought to the video player interface where you will be able to watch the video clip that you just clicked on.
Throughout the app’s interface, you will be able to see a back arrow button at the top left corner which can be used at any point of time by you to go back to the previous screen of the app. The app also has a built in search bar which you can use to look up content. The search results are also displayed in a tiled layout. You can then interact with these results by clicking on them. This basically winds up the main features of the HISTORY app for Windows 8 devices.
