WinVid Player is a free video player App for windows 8 used for MP4 and WMV non-DRM protected files. You can simply watch the video present in the library or you can search for any video file in your computer and then play it over here in WinVid Player. There is proper management of sound and video quality in this player. You can also opt for different brightness, contrast, sharpness and many other options. The interface of this video player is very nice and attractive. It is designed with nice and amazing graphics.
A screenshot of its home page is shown below:
Here in the above screenshot you can see, different files have been arranged according to different categories. You can arrange the video files according to their names, date modified etc. Clicking on the Files option present above, you will find a set of local drives where you can search for video files. In the Go Up menu, you can see a set of selected folder like: user name, library etc.
Once you have selected the movie or video song, just press on the open option to open the video file to play the video. A screenshot of this is shown below:
When you play the video, it tries to fit in the whole screen. However it depends on the aspect ratio. You can play forward and backward or stop playing video directly from here itself. You can see in the image that you can directly reach to any part of the movie. There are no keyboard shortcuts like that in VLC or KM Player etc. It is nice if you want to see small clips, or even songs. But this is not a good choice if you want to see a full or even half a movie. There are some options in this app like open file, moving to next video song, moving back, Re-size, Continuously play, Rewind, etc. which you can find once you tap the right mouse button on the screen. A screenshot consisting of these options is shown below:
You can see all the above mentioned options in the red colour bar at the bottom of the screen. That is all about this app. You can now start exploring this player on your Windows 8 device.
Key Features of this Video Player App:
- Completely free and easy to use.
- Remembers the last played video file.
- Uses a custom wide mode of 14:9 for videos with 4:3 aspect ratio.
- Supports toggle display zoom.
- Plays file located on the device continuously unless other window is opened.
- Doesn’t require internet connection to play video.
- Doesn’t support network files.
Conclusion
WinVid Player is one of the easiest players to operate and handle. This app has been built and tested for accessibility, making it easier for everyone to use. As far as my views are concerned, it is a good app for playing songs, and small clips. For larger files like: movies, serials this player is not a good choice. You can give this video player a try.
