Iconscout has launched its official desktop app for Mac and Windows. You can now search free icons and illustrations right from the desktop and quickly add those icons in whatever graphics designing software you use. It lets you explore the entire Iconscout platform with the proper filters to find relevant icons. After finding the icons you were looking, you can just add them to Photoshop or XD by simple drag and drop operation. It also works with Figma, Sketch, Illustrator, PowerPoint, Word, Google Slides, Google Docs, and many other applications.
If you are Iconscout user then now you can use the official app to find free icons. You can find the free icons even for commercial projects and use them with ease. Or, if you have Iconscout subscription already then you will have access to 2.2 million+ assets in a few clicks. And the desktop app is not the web wrapper of the tool as it has its own download section. Apart from that, you can opt to track any icon package and add it to quickly access for one click access.

Right now, the Iconscout app is only available to Windows and Mac. You just download it and then start using it for good. However, you will have to sign in using your registered email address with Iconscout. After downloading, just sign via web and then you will reach the main UI of the software.
Now, you just search for any icon and it will fetch the relevant results for you. To refine your results, you apply different filters that it gives you in the toolbar. Just apply filters to find exactly what you need. You can apply multiple filters and opt to list icons or icon packs.
The desktop app of Iconscout doesn’t really support direct downloading. You will have to use drag and drop to use the icons that you search in it. See the screenshot below where I have added the twitter icon on my art board in Lunacy editor.
Right click on any icon to like it and add it to your liked list. You can later find all the icons that you have liked so far in the software in the dedicated likes section. Just click the heart icon on the sidebar to see them. Also, from the same sidebar, you can see the icons that you have downloaded so far.
In this way, you can use this awesome software and it works flawlessly. The same process can be follows on macOS to search and download icons and use in your designing applications. The process is very simple and all you need is an Iconscout account. And if you have Iconscout premium account then you will have access to even large collection of icons and illustrations.
Closing lines:
Iconscout did a very good job by releasing a dedicated software for desktop. I liked the fact that the app runs on top of all applications and it can be resized to a very thin window. You just keep it anywhere on screen and use it to search icons quickly whenever you need. I also liked the idea of drag-drop to add icons in your projects. So, if you are a designer then you are going to love this software.
