This tutorial explains how to view passwords saved in Microsoft Edge.
Like other modern browsers, Microsoft Edge also provides the facility to save as well as manage the saved passwords for different websites. You can access Settings → Advanced Settings → Manage my saved passwords
in Microsoft Edge to access the websites and passwords saved by you for those websites. However, Edge doesn’t provide the ‘Show’ option to view the original password hidden behind the bullets. You can see saved passwords in Chrome, Firefox, IE, and Safari within those browsers, but this feature is not available in Microsoft Edge.
This looks like we stuck in between some process, but it ain’t so. Windows 10 provides a Web Credential feature using which you can view the password saved by you for a website in Microsoft Edge.
Above you can see a saved password accessed by me with the help of Web Credential feature.
How To View Passwords Saved In Microsoft Edge?
Step 1: Write Credential Manager in the search box of Windows 10 and open it.
Step 2: After opening Credential Manager window, you will see Web Credentials option. Clicking on that option will show the list of websites for which you have saved the passwords.
Step 3: Now click on the website address or drop down icon to explore details stored for that website. You will see that website address, your username, and password (hidden behind dots) is there. Just next to password, Show option is available.
Clicking on that option will open Windows Security window. Using that window, you need to enter the password of your PC, as a confirmation action. After entering the PC password, it will immediately show you the original password of that particular website.
That’s it! In a similar way, you can view passwords saved by you for other websites in Microsoft Edge.
Conclusion:
This is a simple way to view passwords saved in Microsoft EDGE. Of course, it also shows how vulnerable your passwords are, with your PC password being the only thing that protects them.
