In this article, I have compiled a list of 3 free software to get alert when PC is disconnected from the internet. These free software will notify you when your PC gets disconnected from the internet by visual notifications and sound. One of the software included in my list will even allow you to execute a file after your PC is disconnected from the internet.
There is one more advanced software in my list that will allow you to perform other actions like Lock PC, sleep PC, etc after your PC is disconnected from the internet.

Shutter:
Shutter is a free task scheduler software for Windows that you can configure to receive an alarm after PC is disconnected from the internet. In this software, we will add an event that will continuously monitor internet connection and raise an alarm immediately after internet connection is lost or disconnected. You can also set other actions that will be performed after internet is lost on your PC like sleep PC, hibernate PC, run a program, etc. This free software can run on Windows startup and after going through the steps illustrated below, you will immediately get an alarm after your PC gets disconnected from the internet.
Download this free software from the link provided above and install it or run its application file. In the screenshot below, you can see the main interface of this software and the alarm that is fired immediately after the internet is disconnected.
Let’s see the steps to set an alarm after PC is disconnected from the internet:
Step 1: In the first step, we will add an event to monitor. To add an event, click on the +Add button, as shown in the screenshot below.
Step 2: In this step, we will add an event to monitor our internet connection. For this, we will configure the software to constantly try to ping a website / server, and if it not able to ping, then it would assume that the PC has disconnected from internet. To do that, Select “Ping Stops” event and specify name of any website that you want to ping (could be just google.com, or any other website of your choice). Also, specify the time after which the event will be triggered if response is not received from the host. After specifying an IP address or host name, click on the +Add button to add the event which will be continuously monitored by this free software.
Step 3: In this step, you have to specify the action if the event specified in the previous step fails. To add the action, click on the “+Add” button under the actions sections of its main interface. After that, select the Alarm action from the list and click on the “+Add” button.
Now, you’re all done and you will receive alerts immediately after internet is disconnected from the PC, as shown in the main screenshot of this software.
Internet Connection Notification:
Internet Connection Notification is a free software to receive alerts when PC is disconnected from the internet. This free software will monitor Internet connection of your PC after a regular interval of time and alerts you when your PC is disconnected/connected to the internet. You can set the interval time from 1 second to 5 minutes. It also gives you the option to specify a custom time interval but I wasn’t able to figure out this option. In alerts, it displays a visual notification as you can see in the screenshot above. It also plays a sound with the internet failure notifications. It can also log the internet connection status for you. It also comes with a night mode in which you can disable its notification or stop logging internet connection status during night.
Download this free software from the link provided above and then install it. After the installation is complete, this free software will automatically start monitoring your internet connection and notifies you when its status is changed from connected to disconnected or vice versa. To set the time interval after which it will check the internet connection status, right-click on its System Tray icon and select a time duration from the Interval option.
To log the internet connection status, select “Start Logging” option from its System Tray icon. It displays the log file after you exit from the application, as shown in the screenshot below.
NetSNSOR:
NetSNSOR is another free software to get alerts when PC is disconnected from the internet. You can specify an executable file to run after PC gets disconnected from the internet and a sound file (WAV) that will be played afterwards. It is quite simple to configure; download it from the link provided above and install it. After that, open it and you will see its main interface as shown in the screenshot above. Switch to the Enter Details tab and specify the path of the application file that you want to execute and WAV file that will be played automatically after your PC is disconnected from the internet. Click on the Save! button to save your settings and then click on the Background Mode button on its main interface to run it in background (stays up in System Tray).
After that, if your PC gets disconnected from the internet, this free software will execute the application and play the sound file so that you can get to know that there is something wrong with your internet connection.
