Here comes a free StackExchange Notifier add-on for Firefox, named as “StackExchangeNotifications“. The badge icon of the add-on shows the total number of unread counts for inbox messages and your score on StackExchange. It includes all the sites which are the part of StackExchange (like Stack Overflow). You can also click the badge icon to view unread counts for inbox and score separately.
Apart from this feature, you can also read the inbox messages as well as quickly check your new achievements. So, you can stay connected with StackExchange when you are working on other tabs on Firefox. The only thing is that you must be logged in to StackExchange account. After that, even if you have closed the StackExchange tab, it will keep working and alert you for new notifications.
Above you can see notification alert for new message visible on the badge icon and new message visible in the pop-up of this Firefox add-on.
