Apart from this feature, you can also read the inbox messages as well as quickly check your new achievements. Now sign in to your StackExchange account. If there are new messages and some change in the score, the badge icon will notify you immediately by showing the total number of unread notifications.
Clicking the badge icon will open a pop-up. That pop-up contains:
