Edit Image is a free Windows 8 app that allows you to edit images on your Windows 8 device with ease. The app allows you to set the various parameters for editing your images like setting the contrast, saturation, brightness etc. Apart from allowing you to use an image already stored on your device and opening it up for editing purposes, the app also allows you to use your camera to click an image and then edit the same. The app has very simple controls, and a minimalist interface. Although the interface isn’t very beautiful or eye catchy, the features thrown in more than make up for the “not-so-cool” interface.
Edit Image can be used to edit a variety of image formats, like jpeg, png, img, etc. The best part is that this app also opens up RAW images, and you can edit them also. The Edit Image app lives up to its name, and delivers stunning image editing performance on Windows 8 devices.

Using the app…
Edit Image app is incredibly easy to use. When you download the app, the app’s icon will present itself on your Start Screen. Upon clicking on the icon, the app will open up and present the following interface to you.
The app has a control bar at the bottom with various controls. Let’s take a closer look at the controls present in the app’s control bar.
As you can see, you can either Choose an image, Save an edited image, Reset (undo) the changes that you have made to your image, access various options for adjusting brightness, contrast, hue, saturation etc. (Option 1 and Option 2). Let’s quickly edit an image and see how that goes. So here, I have opened the image.
Now let me mess around with certain options and see how that turns out (via the Option 1 and Option 2 menu).
And here I have the image, after applying some filters to it. Looks great, doesn’t it?
This is all that you need to know to use this app. Pretty darn easy, isn’t it?

- The interface could have been designed better.
- No support for live tiles, or docked view.
The final words from the horse’s mouth…
Edit Image is a good image editing tool that lives up to its name by providing a host of image editing effects that can truly make your images look great. Although I can’t help but feel that if the docked view support was added and the interface was designed better, the app would have been much much more popular on the App Store.
Anyways, the features in the app more than make up for this loss, and hence I rate this app a 3.5 out of 5. This is definitely one app which you can easily use for casual image editing purposes!
