Drums is a free Windows 8 Drum app. Using this app you can play drums in Windows 8 devices. This Windows 8 app brings 12 different sounding drums, all in one single app. The app works with both, a touch device supporting Windows 8 and PC or Laptop with Windows 8 installed in it. This little app is present under the Entertainment Category in Windows Store. Downloading it won’t be any issue, because it is lightweight and downloads fast. Use the Windows 8 Search Charm to locate the app in Windows Store, or the download link given at the end of this article.
This Windows 8 app is getting popular among the Windows 8 users and has got good reviews by them. The app is good for all alike. Even an amateur or a professional can use this app anytime and practice their sessions, because, it doesn’t require internet to use.
Drumming with this Windows 8 Drum app:
This Windows 8 Drum app is really fun, and grabs your attention quickly. The app is best for the touch devices, because touching gives you lot of flexibility. You can move your finger freely. But that doesn’t mean it’s no good for the PC or laptops. In fact it’s fairly good! You can use your mouse clicks to play the drums or use the keyboard keys. Allowing different keys to play the drums, did really improv the usability of the app. Hence making the app more fun.
Like I said before there are 12 different drums with different sounds. The sounds of these drums are clear and good. To my surprise they sound quite real. The sounds of Toms, Ride, Crash stays for a longer time just like in real life, and doesn’t end quickly. The app itself shows the keyboard keys of these drums, still, here are the drums with their respective keys: Snare –> D, Toms –> H and J, Floor Tom –> K, Splash –> ;, Ride –> L and O, Crash –> S, Opened –> Q, Closed –> A, Hi Nat Pedal –> Z, and Kick –> F.
I like the fact that the app has a clean interface, without any Ads. Using this Windows 8 drum app is very easy and straight forward. No rocket science; no switching between screens; no login; but just simply 12 different drums and the sounds that generates on hitting them or pressing respective keys.

Things that I wish this app supported:
This Windows 8 drum app, sure is a good free music app. It’s fun and entertaining. But it does lack few features that I felt missing; such as, option to record and save the sounds that you made by hitting the drums. Also, including the sharing feature would have made the app lot more functional. So that, you can share your talent with friends, rather than just keeping it with yourself. But I think there will be improvements in this app, and these functionalities will get included.
Final Note:
Drums, certainly is fun and a good Windows 8 drum app. I did spent a lot of time playing drum, though I am pretty bad at it. But still it’s interesting and kept me glued for quite a long time. It’s functional and does what it advertises. All the keys work perfectly well. There’s no rocket science involved to use. You can just open it anytime and start playing drums and have fun. Also, it has got near around 4 stars out of 5 in Windows Store. So this does mean the app has some thing to offer. All in all, a good Windows 8 drum app.
