How to Use This Free Web Chat Service?
Rocket.Chat is designed for simplicity. To use this web chat service, all you have to do is open its homepage and create a free account. You can also use Facebook or Google account to sign in to this service.
After creating your account, dashboard of your account will open. Now you can join a public channel or create your own channel. Use the sidebar and ‘+‘ icon available for CHANNELS to create your personal channel.
After this, you can add users to that channel for conversation. However, you can add only those users that have already created an account on Rocket.Chat. I wish there would be an option available to send email invitation, but there is no such feature. So, you need to ask your friends to join Rocket.Chat. When they will create an account, you can search them by entering their name and add to your Channel.
A user is automatically added to your Channel without any confirmation. Now you can discuss with each other about any topic or project.
To send a direct message to a person, click on the username of that person and then use CONVERSATION button. It will open DIRECT MESSAGES window using which you can send messages.

If you want feature rich chat clients, you should better use some other video chat software or web based messengers. But, Rocket.Chat is good to use for simple and fast text chat.
