Recently, I wrote about following RSS feeds in Microsoft Edge and after very recent Canary update, now the same feature lets you follow YouTube creators. When you open a YouTube video or channel, then Edge shows an option to follow the channel. The channels that you follow will be added to the Edge Collections, and then you can check out the recent videos from there.
You can now follow a YouTube channel without actually subscribing to a channel. There is a dedicated panel in Edge now where you can see the latest updates for the channels that you have followed though the new “Followable Web” feature. You can manage subscriptions and apart from the latest videos from a YouTube channel, you can also see other most recent videos as well.
Follow YouTube Channels In Microsoft Edge to Get Latest Updates
The Followable Web is now available to a selected group of insiders. If you have it, then you can now follow YouTubers. Make sure that your Canary build of Edge is up to date and open a video on YouTube. Or, you can open a YouTube channel. A “Follow creator” button will appear in the address bar, much similar to this.
Click on the Follow button and the channel will be added to your collections. You can follow any number of channels and then find them in the Following section of Collections. Open collections and, from the 3 dots icon, find all the YouTubers you have subscribed to. From here, you can unfollow them as well.
To see the recent updates, open the Recent Posts option from the collections. It will show you the most recent videos of the creators here. The side panel that it opens for you to show you the latest videos from your subscriptions is sticky. So, if you ant to open multiple videos in different tabs, then you can easily do that. This is as simple as that.
This is how you can now follow YouTube creators using Edge without manually subscribing them. You don’t even need a Google account to use it. However, I am not sure if it shows notification for new content updates from the channels that you have followed.

If you want to follow YouTube channels without subscribing to them, then you can now do that. This new feature of Followable Web feature seems very promising. And What I liked best is that it even lets you websites and not just YouTube creators. So, if you are an Edge user then just wait for this feature to arrive in stable builds, or if you are a Canary user then you can give it a go right now or in a few days.
